Student housing in Singapore is in the same building as the classrooms.
Accommodation is shared, dormitory style, with three or four students in a room, and costs US$8,700 for the year (September through April when classes end).
You do not get to pick your own roommate, and you cannot decide whether you have 3 or 4 in a room. Male and female students are never housed in the same room. (sorry, Jags)
You can request a single or double room if you want to pay extra and if space allows. Some premium rooms come with a small fridge. They are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact Ms Mary D’Mello (mary.dmello@spjain.org) to find out costs, and to be on the list for a private, semi-private or premium room.
All bathrooms are shared.
Each student on campus is given a bed, a study desk, chair, cupboard, one set of bed linen, a pillow and a comforter (BUT NO TOWEL). On each level there is a fridge, microwave and coin-operated washing machines and dryers. Vending machines have soft and hot drinks, fruit and other snacks.
No cooking is allowed on campus, but a full-fledged cafeteria serves inexpensive and healthy meals from morning until late in the evening. The cafeteria offers vegetarian, non-vegetarian, Indian and international food. There is also a snack bar serving sandwiches, drinks, burgers, ice cream, waffles and other items right downstairs from the dormitory, which is open extended hours. The dormitory does have shared refrigerators (both veg and non-veg), microwaves, toasters, water heaters and other basic food preparation equipment (but not a stove, which is against the Singapore fire code).
