‘Celebrating the little successes and the big failures make us stronger as a team’: BBA Students among top 80 in the prestigious HULT Prize Summit 2020
We had the opportunity to visit the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)’s warehouse in Dubai. The visit was organised by SP Jain School of Global Management to expose us to professional management and operation skills. At the warehouse, we met Ms Destamena Vinodh, Supply Associate at UNHCR Dubai, who helped us understand the operations of the UNHCR. It was a wonderful and fulfilling learning experience for us.
This summer, I got an absolutely wonderful and unexpected opportunity to work as a Software Engineer at VPBank, one of Vietnam’s earliest established Joint-Stock Commercial banks. Why do I say ‘unexpected’? Because to be honest, a year ago, I wouldn’t have believed that I would get this highly coveted role in the banking industry right in my Year 1 of the Bachelor of Data Science (BDS) program or that I would be writing this blog to share my experience!
Manthan Shah (BBA Intake of 2018) is a professional athlete who captained India’s team in the International Table Tennis Championship (Pacific Games, Australia) and won 2 bronze medals in the event before he joined SP Jain. Since then, he represented the School in the Spartan Race (Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore) and is currently the youngest Indian to do so. He also gave a talk at TEDxGateway, was a part of the Dean’s List for academic excellence, was a guest speaker at the Podcast on Climate Change with Scott Amyx (USA), participated in the outreach program in Philippines, published a research paper on Circular Economy, won three gold medals at the Fiesta Games 2019, and so much more!
One of the key learning experiences recommended during your undergraduate studies is taking up an internship. Gaining real-world experience is key to boosting your employability and supplementing your academic knowledge, preparing you for life after graduation. That is why Pratiksha Sharma, from the Bachelor of Data Science (BDS) intake of 2018, decided to take up an internship at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay before embarking on her Year 2 experience at SP Jain Sydney. We caught up with her to know more!
In the beginning of November 2018, when I applied to Asia World Model United Nations (AWMUN) in Bangkok, I barely had any idea of what to expect. Imagine my surprise and excitement when I got my acceptance letter the very next day! Unfortunately, my excitement left me very soon, when I realised that not only did I not have enough money for this, I didn’t have enough time to earn the $800 either. A few days later, I decided to try my luck and ask the Global Learning Team (Nathaniel and Jamal) for advice and help, and they were so glad to help me. I can’t stress enough how thankful I am for their support, help, and understanding. They were the ones who gave me the courage to take up this experience.
The Industrial Visit to Godrej One in Mumbai on 3rd December 2018 was part of the ‘Principles of Management’ course – chapter ‘Change and Innovation’ – that focuses on how companies follow innovation culture that appropriately suits their organisational culture. This visit was the result of Prof. Shrinivas Shikaripurkar’s relentless efforts to make sure the BBA 2018 Jaguars got a chance to visit one of India’s most successful companies – Godrej Properties.
The Bhatsa river, situated near the small town of Asangaon in Maharashtra, at first glance, hardly strikes me as the kind of place I would ever visit on my own. In fact, had it not been for Easy Roads, our first outdoor activity, I am quite sure I would never have discovered the beauty it has to offer. As apprehensive as I was about wagering my sleep for a three-hour drive to the middle of nowhere, I’m quite chuffed to admit that waking up early paid off spectacularly.
Making new friends from diverse nationalities, indulging in exciting experiences in a new country, and participating in so many engaging activities - never in my life have I had such an exciting week!
Hello Jaguars! I am Samkit Jain and I come from Ichalkaranji, a city in Kolhapur district, Maharashtra. I like listening to music, playing basketball, watching movies, and reading books. I am also a social media buff.
