Five Things You Must Know About UNHCR Dubai

We had the opportunity to visit the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)’s warehouse in Dubai. The visit was organised by SP Jain School of Global Management to expose us to professional management and operation skills. At the warehouse, we met Ms Destamena Vinodh, Supply Associate at UNHCR Dubai, who helped us understand the operations of the UNHCR. It was a wonderful and fulfilling learning experience for us.

The Industrial Visit to Godrej One in Mumbai on 3rd December 2018 was part of the ‘Principles of Management’ course – chapter ‘Change and Innovation’ – that focuses on how companies follow innovation culture that appropriately suits their organisational culture. This visit was the result of Prof. Shrinivas Shikaripurkar’s relentless efforts to make sure the BBA 2018 Jaguars got a chance to visit one of India’s most successful companies – Godrej Properties.

Undergraduate students visit Al Rawabi Dairy Company in Dubai to learn Operations Management

SP Jain School of Global Management’s second year undergraduate business students visited the Al Rawabi Dairy Company in Dubai on 18th September 2018 as part of the global learning exposure linked to the Operations Management course. We not only got the opportunity to understand Al Rawabi’s innovative operations processes, but we also learnt about the interesting origin of their wide range of products including milk, yoghurt, laban and juice.

Understanding Operations Management – BBA students visit UNHCR in Dubai

SP Jain School of Global Management’s BBA cohort of September 2017 visited the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ (UNHCR) office in Dubai on 25th September 2018. As business students learning about Operations Management, we got the opportunity to understand how the UNHCR operates efficiently with its limited resources to provide aid and relief to those around the world.

Bombay Stock Exchange Trip for Mumbai Jags

What's the world’s fastest stock exchange? No, not NASDAQ. It's the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which can take around 500,000 orders a second. Formed in 1875, the BSE is Asia’s first stock exchange and home to a whopping 5,800 listed companies. It is also the second in the world to receive Information Security Management System Standard BS 7799-2-2002 certification for its online trading system.

Total Quality Field Trip

As part of the Principles of Management course, BBA Jags at the Mumbai campus were treated by Prof. Shrinivas Shikaripurkar to a practical understanding of Total Quality Management (TQM) practices by touring the state-of-the-art facilities of TajSATS at Mumbai near to the T2 International Terminal.

The speakers invited by Prof.Shrinivas Shikaripurkar included Mr.Harsh Gandhi, Executive Director of Gujarat Reclaim & Rubber Product Ltd (GRP), Mr.Homi N Daruwalla, Chairman of the IGBC & Deputy Chairman of CII Energy Efficiency & Ms. Cristiana Peruzzo, a CSR specialist working with Innovaid India.

Kunal's Take on Dubai

Dubai is a city that offers a rich culture and heritage along with a perfect blend of a multi-ethnic and diverse society. After having experienced the convenience of Singapore's public transport, it was definitely an experience adjusting to the long distances and extreme weather conditions of Dubai. But looking back, I have had an amazing time in Dubai, especially because it was much more challenging academically, and we had awesome professors who made learning interesting by their sense of humor, personality, worldly wisdom and friendliness.
